Winter Carnival 2024: Day 5 The Crown Jewel of Internet Browsing

 

We hope you have been able to clean up a few things and had some fun this week at ELT's 2024 Winter Carnival. Our digital housekeeping isn't quite done. Today we'll work on cleaning up messy Chrome bookmarks, learn how to manage all those open tabs and explore Chrome's new Reading mode.

Do you use bookmarks in Chrome? My bookmarks were a terrible mess until a couple years ago when I took a little time to clean them up and I've learned how to keep them organized. Read my article on Organizing your messy Chrome bookmarks. 

How many tabs do you have open in Chrome? Do you keep tabs open because you don't want to lose the sites you are on? Here is an article about how to manage your tabs in Chrome. Check out even more "tabs" tips in this article, "Help! I closed the wrong tab and I need it back!" 

My final tip for today is about the Chrome Reading mode. This option was recently added to the Side panel. Reading mode helps you focus only on the text of a webpage by removing the images, videos and distractions in the side panel. You can adjust the font, background color, text spacing and the width of the side panel. Click the Side panel button in the upper right corner (next to your Chrome account icon) and select Reading mode.

4. Find the medallion. A new medallion is hidden each day. Medallions may be hidden on this blog, the Core Skills website, Extension Intranet, etc. Earn 10 points for each medallion you find.
