Welcome to the 2024 ELT Winter Carnival! We are so excited to begin a week of technology learning and fun!! Please join us on Friday, February 23 at 11 a.m. for our IT Goldy's Winter Carnival Celebration. We will give away prizes and celebrate you for participating. Please register to let us know you can attend. 

This year, our theme is digital housekeeping - something we can all benefit from. Each day we'll focus on a different task, and you'll hopefully notice that even just a few minutes can make a significant difference. Our aim is to inspire you to maintain this effort throughout the year! To help, we created an  Extension Digital Cleanup Calendar and Checklist as a handy guide. Feel free to make a copy to customize it for yourself. 

If you are concerned you can't keep up this week, no worries! Everything will stay posted past Winter Carnival. 

Day 1: IT Goldy's cleanup in a flurry

A cluttered inbox, disorganized digital files, and a chaotic desktop can hinder productivity and increase stress levels. Tackling all these challenges at once may seem daunting, but you can take back control of your digital life by creating a tidy workspace and making the most of the features available in the tools we use everyday.

Whether it is bulk-deleting old email, archiving a finished project or creating a new Workspace in your Drive, start a timer and see what you can accomplish in just 10 minutes. If you would like some tips, check out our 10 minute digital cleanup challenge article.

Today's activities

1. Do the 10 minute digital cleanup challenge as described above. Really do it!

2. WORDLE of the day. If you want to collect 5 points for playing, copy/paste your results in the Ext Connect Slack #elt-winter-carnival channel. 

3. Extra points for sharing in the Ext Connect Slack #elt-winter-carnival channel one time during the week:

  • A selfie/photo with Flat IT Goldy (20 points)
  • A photo of your Winter Carnival Coloring Sheet masterpiece (20 points)

4. Find the medallion. A new medallion is hidden each day. By the end of the week there will be a total of five clues and five hidden virtual medallions. Medallions may be hidden on this blog, the Core Skills website, Extension Intranet, etc. If you are stumped, you can try asking for a hint in the #elt-winter-carnival Slack channel! Earn 10 points for each medallion you find. 

When you find a medallion, fill out this Google Form to let us know!
