It can be frustrating to try and follow along with a YouTube tutorial while in a different tab because the moment you click away from YouTube, the video disappears. While YouTube has its own Miniplayer, it traps you inside the YouTube tab so if you click over to your email or a document, the video hides.
Your browser has a Picture-in-Picture feature that lets your video float over any app on your computer.
When you right-click on a YouTube video, a YouTube menu appears. You need to right-click a second time slightly to the side of the first menu. You should see different menu that has the Picture-in-Picture option:
How to control it
Once the video is popped out, it says pinned to the front of the screen regardless of what app you open.
- To move it: Click and drag the video anywhere on your screen
- To resize it: Drag any corner to scale it up or down
- To close it: Hover over the video and click the X to pop it back into its original browser tab
