Make your mouse easier to see in Windows

Monday Minute by Quick Bytes
Your mouse pointer is one of the most used tools on your computer, but it can also be surprisingly easy to lose on a busy screen. Windows has a few settings that make your cursor easier to see and easier to find.

Here are three simple mouse settings worth exploring!

1. Press Ctrl to find your cursor

If you've ever lost your mouse pointer on a busy screen, this setting will make a circle animation appear around your pointer when you press the Ctrl key. This is especially helpful when presenting or working on multiple monitors.

Turn it on:

  1. Open Mouse Settings in Windows settings
  2. Select Additional mouse settings
  3. Go to the Pointer Options tab
  4. Check Show location of pointer when I press the CTRL key

2. Make your pointer larger or change the color

The default pointer can be difficult to see on bright screens or busy documents. Windows lets you increase the pointer size or change its color to improve visibility.

Adjust it:

  1. Open Windows Settings
  2. Go to Accessibility
  3. Select Mouse pointer and touch

3. Turn on pointer trails

Pointer trails add a short visual trail behind your cursor as it moves. This can make the cursor easier to follow, especially during presentations or demonstrations.

Turn it on:

  1. Open Mouse Settings in Windows settings
  2. Select Additional mouse settings
  3. Go to the Pointer Options tab
  4. Enable Display pointer trails
