Easier Presenting With Google Slides' Multi-Monitor Feature

Presenting can be stressful—especially when you’re trying to manage your slides, keep track of your notes, stay on schedule, and still engage with your participants. Google Slides has added multi-monitor support, making it easier to view your Google Slides presentation controls on your computer while presenting to an audience using a connected external monitor or projector.

How it works

To present with other monitors, you must use a computer with a Google Chrome browser and have at least one extra monitor or projector attached.
  1. When you are ready to present, at the top right corner, next to Slideshow, click the dropdown arrow.
  2. Select Presentation display options. You may need to give Google Chrome permissions to use the multi-display support, select Allow.
From the Slideshow dropdown menu, select Presentation Display Options. You may need to give Chrome permissions to use this feature.

Presentation display options:
  1. You can select from Presenter view, Present from beginning, and Full screen.
  2. Select which monitor you want to display your presentation to.
    • You can’t use the Presenter view and Full screen at the same time with one monitor.
    • When you deselect Full screen, you can only present to your current monitor.
  3. To begin your presentation, select Start slideshow.

Best Practices for a Smooth Presentation

  • Test your setup ahead of time to ensure displays are extended (not mirrored) and that the right screen is assigned.
  • Practice using Presenter View so you’re comfortable navigating your notes and timing.
  • If you're presenting in Zoom or Google Meet, be sure to share only the slideshow window (the external display with your slides), not the Presenter View.
