Put University holidays on your Google Calendar

I was recently in a big group meeting and it came up that almost nobody had the University holidays showing up on their Google Calendars. I was so surprised! There's an easy fix for this!

First, the holidays that will show up on your calendar with this method are University holidays. Keep that in mind if your position has other holidays in play (i.e. county calendars). If you want to see the official list of University holidays, visit this list on the University's HR site and select "Rochester and Twin Cities Holiday Calendar."

On to adding these to your calendar!

Option 1. Easy button

Click this link and add to your Google calendar list by selecting the blue plus icon to "add to my calendar" (in the way lower right of the screen.)

Option 2. If Option 1 doesn't work for some reason

Add the calendar manually to Google Calendar by selecting the plus next to "Other calendars," then select "Select From URL" and paste in the following URL:

Option 3. For other calendar applications

If you don't use Google Calendar, you can still add the calendar to whatever calendar you use. The iCal format is fairly universal and will work in Outlook and Apple.

  1. Wow! Thanks for sharing! I've always done this the long way of looking at the calendar and manually adding in every University Holiday to my calendar.

Now I just have to remember that I learned this for the next academic calendar release. ;)
