Working in multiple locations? Google makes it easier to update your calendar.

One of the Extension core technology skills is setting your default work hours and location in Google Calendar. Do this to let your team know where and when you are working, and allow others to know when they can schedule in-person or online meetings with you. Your default work hours and location settings should reflect what you do most of the time.

On any given day if your schedule is different from your default settings, you can update your location and busy times right on your calendar.

To change your location for an entire day on your calendar:
  1. Click the location bar below a specific date on your calendar grid
  2. Click the pencil to Edit working location.

What if you are working from multiple locations in the same day?

A recent update to Google calendar now lets you set up multiple locations and time on the same day. For example, if you work from your office in the morning, go to an offsite meeting midday then finish your workday from home, you can indicate it in your calendar. This feature provides your colleagues with better information about when and where to find you and what your current availability is.

Add a location to your calendar:

  1. Click an empty space on your calendar.
  2. At the top of the event, click Working location.
  3. Choose the time and date you want to add a working location.
  4. Optional: Make your working location repeat.
    1. Click the day and time.
    2. Next to "Does not repeat," click the down arrow.
    3. Choose how often you want the event to repeat and end.
  5. Choose a location or add a new one.
  6. Click Save.
Tip: After you create a working location for part of your day, you can drag it to another date or time.

  1. VERY helpful, thank you! I have been using "Other Locations/Another Location to enter my own customized schedule (as text) that included various locations/times. Now I can add multiple locations adding different times on the same day.
