Collaborating with Google Team Drives

Google Team Drives has recently become available as an option for sharing files and folders. With Team Drives, documents are owned by a team instead of an individual. This means that when someone leaves the group, their files remain in the Team Drive without having to transfer ownership. Our Extension Technology team has moved to Team Drives which makes finding shared documents and folders so much easier! We also no longer need to transfer document ownership to a departmental account. We all have access to create folders and manage files within our Team Drive.

About

Welcome to Extension Quick Bytes, online technology enrichment for Extension!

The main barrier to learning new technologies is having the TIME. Quick Bytes makes it easy to keep up with technology.

"Quick Bytes" are bite-sized introductions to a wide variety of today's educational technology. You will finish each quick and fun unit having seen each technology with your own eyes, learned some potential uses for it, and knowing where to get more information.

Quick Bytes enables you to Own Personally the Task of Becoming Proficient with Today's Digital Tools

The goals of Quick Bytes are to:
  1. increase Extension's familiarity with today's readily-available educational technologies
  2. model a learner-centered online learning environment
  3. create a community of lifelong tech learners among a geographically distributed audience
Who is Quick Bytes for?

Quick Bytes' primary audience is Extension faculty and staff at the University of Minnesota. However, anyone interested in learning technologies is welcome to join in!

Quick Bytes is geared for an audience of educators who are interested in free and low-cost technologies to use to increase the quality of and access to their educational materials.
Earn Badges!

What could be more fun than learning about technology? Earning badges for it! Just like scouting, only--dare I say it--better.

Digital badges are a learning technology tool used to both motivate and recognize learners for completing education online. Quick Bytes utilizes Mozilla Open Badges, an open standard for creating and collecting badges from all over the internet, and the badge issuer Credly.
